Travel with Impact: Where Your Money Goes

Impact African Safaris was built on one idea: a trip to Tanzania should leave money and friendships in the villages you visit, not only in park offices and big hotels.

How social tourism works on our trips

  • Culture days with real hosts. Coffee farmers in Materuni, Chagga families in Machame, market traders in Moshi and village guides on the slopes of Mount Meru earn directly from your visit.
  • A community contribution on every culture day. It is built into every package price and paid to local families, schools and village projects.
  • Homestays. Choose the Local stay level and sleep with a vetted family who earn the room rate.
  • Fair wages. Our guides, cooks and Kilimanjaro porters are paid above the legal minimum, and porter loads are kept at or under 20 kg.

Why it costs you less

A culture day carries no national park fee, so it costs a fraction of a safari day. Mixing two or three culture days with a short safari gives you the Big Five and real Tanzanian life, often for less than a park-only itinerary.

Our promise

Every year we publish what our community contributions paid for. Ask us anytime – we are happy to show you.
