Machame Cultural Tour – Village, Farms & Traditional Lunch (Day Trip)

Spend a day as a guest in Machame, the village at the foot of Kilimanjaro’s most famous climbing route. Run by the village’s own cultural tourism programme, your fees go straight to local guides, families and the school.

Your days, step by step

1. 08:00 – Pick-up in Moshi
   About 1 hour drive to Machame (Nkweshoo).
2. 09:00 – Village & farms
   Walk with a village guide through coffee and banana farms; learn how Chagga families farm the mountain’s slopes.
3. 11:00 – Waterfall & school
   Short hike to a forest waterfall; visit the local primary school (term time).
4. 13:00 – Traditional lunch
   Home-cooked Chagga lunch with a local family – try mtori banana stew and fresh juice.
5. 15:30 – Back in Moshi
   Drop-off at your hotel.
